National Standards for Grade Levels 6-12
This kit was designed by the Department of Biochemistry and Nutrition at Temple University School of Dentistry. Its purpose is to allow students to quantify the bacteria in their mouth and to measure the effectiveness of rinsing and the effect of sugar containing foods. These experiments should provide students with sufficient evidence to radically change their eating and brushing habits in order to prevent tooth decay. Allow four 45 minute lab periods. Required, but not included: 24 caramels. Designed for 24 students working in six groups of four.
